Sterne Holz uses hardwood as main material for flooring and decking. The main part used is heartwood not sapwood.
1. The outer bark 2. Inner bark “phloem” 3. Cambium cell layer 4. Sapwood 5. Heartwood Heartwood is the central, supporting pillar of the tree and the strongest part of tree. While sapwood is new wood and not as strong as heartwood.
There are some wood types provided by Sterne Holz such as: - Teak Wood (Specific weight: 650 kg/m3)
Teak wood considered as a “high class” wood due to its strength and its motives. Wood surface is smooth and sometimes looks oily. Available as flooring, decking and skirting. Flooring is available on three models as below: 
- Solid type
- FJL type (Finger Joint Lamination)
- FJ type (Finger Joint)
- Sonokelling wood (Specific weight 700 kg/m3)
The colour of heartwood is dark brown violet with dark streaks Wood surface is smooth, shiny with colour and beautiful streaks. Available as flooring and skirting. Flooring is available on three models as below:
- Solid type
- FJL type (Finger Joint Lamination)
- FJ type (Finger Joint)
- Merbau wood (Specific weight 850 kg/m3)
Heartwood is yellowish to orange-brown when fresh, weathering to brown or dark red-brown. Grain is interlocked and texture is coarse but even. Available as flooring, decking and skirting. Flooring is available on three models as below:

- Lara wood (Specific weight 1200 kg/m3)
